In most households, if something goes missing, you retrace your steps, hoping to find it.
In my house, you search my sister's room.

Having reached a stage where little grosses me out, the necessity of entering that jungled wasteland she calls a 'bedroom' makes me balk. In order to rescue my property, I have no choice.

Somewhat comforted in the knowledge that I have all my shots, I peek through the door, meeting the musky scent of sweat and (Mum's) hair mousse. Mountains of clothes slump in various degrees of cleanliness, concealing nothing. Mugs rest on every available surface, potential life forms taking shape within. Eyes scan furniture and surprisingly flat surfaces that her belongings create. Hands travel down the blue roughness of her carpet, stretching into the cavernous darkness under her bed.

A warm chill bubbles through the depths of my stomach, vanishing the moment I spot my t-shirt.
It's been a while since I submitted anything so I decided to change that.

Recently I've started a Creative Writing course and I thought I'd share some of the exercises we've been asked to do. Originally part of three 200 word pieces, this had to be reduced by 50 when we came to revise it. Imagine the fun!

Very uncreatively, I have kept the original prompts as titles for these three. I promise the other pieces have actual titles!
